Voltage to Remote connection

What is the normal output voltage on the remote wire from a head unit? I would assume that the amp connection for the remote wire needs to be the exact same voltage if it is anythign other than 12v, correct? Thanks for your help.

Yep, it's 12V DC. Not much current capability, so don't use it for anything besides activating a power antenna or turning on an amp, though.
