I have a Volkswagen Passat 1999 with original Clarion PU1634 (1J0 035 186) radio. I changed the radio to Sony and now I have this original available for other purposes.

I had an idea that I want to use it as a carage radio, but the connection is a problem.

The radio has the following connections diagram on the case:

KL31, KL30, KL58b, S, SAFE, K-LN, ALM

and also the speaker diagram

I tried to connect the +12V and ground (KL31 and KL30 which have been proven to be correct), but nothing happened.

Can anybody give me any ideas which wires I have to connect to get it working and also the explanation about the above connections.

Any help would be appreciated.

Rise

No idea what the above connection designators mean, but I assume they are VW specific labels and can be found in the vehicle's wiring diagrams.  You will need, as a minimum, to conenct +12V, Ground, AND switched power.

Kevin,

I have the CD changer for the radio as well (panasonic 6 disc changer, original with the car). I want to connect the changer into the radio. Do you have that cable available?
