Hey all. I know when you are using a ported box you dont have to give the woofer as much power as they are rated for. I was wondering how much less you can go before noticing it? I had planned on getting a BX1500D for my 3- 15" MA Audio. They are rated at 400w RMS. so, 1200 rms total. I'd have it running at 1500 watts. But, if I dont need all that power, i'm not gonna get it. Whats a safe number? Also, assuming i did get the 1500 to run them, would the extra power hurt them at all? I'm new to ported boxes. I've always had sealed, so im just askin a few questions before i start breakin sh*t. Thanks.

I think you will be ok with that amp. just turn your gains down a little, and don't blast it until you see what it will do. or you could go back to sealed boxes

GAIN has nothing to do with it.  Gain is set to match the amp to the head unit.
