install neons without the cigaette plug

on my van, there are two wires coming into the back of the cig lighter, the one in the center is the +12 and the one going to the outside part of the lighter is the - .......

On some neon light the adapter is require because the neon light runs on AC rather that DC.   I assume that is what you have. There is a simple solution to this. Join the wire back to adapter. As dark_knight said there are two wires coming into the back of the cigarette lighter, the one in the centre is the +12 and the one going to the outside part of the lighter is the negative. Find your power supply on the parking light and connect them to it and you neon will light up now.   Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.

well before you go cutting up neons, you need to know if your tube has a voltage reducer. some neons, mostly the smaller ones, have a voltage reducer in the cigarette plug area. so if you cut it and try to hard wire it, it wont workalways looking for new info and willing to give it
