i have 2 12 inch audiobahn subs and a JBL BP-600.1 amp. There are so many different ways i can connect the subs to the amp, but i wanted to know the best way to hook them up. (ex. parallel, 2ohms,1 ohm, etc.). I want to have 300 watts RMS going to each sub.  I also wanted to know what they mean by the amp being "1ohm stable".

What is the ohm rating of your subs and are they dual voice coil or single voice coil?

For best results with that amp, you want your subs connected for a total 2-ohm load.  This will deliver 300 watts to each speaker.  "1-ohm stable" means the amp can sustain output into a 1-ohm load.  This amp CAN do that, however it can be very noisy and the THD ratings and damping factor gets tossed out the window, so your subs could be over-driven.

Ah, well then you're screwed as far as getting a total 2-ohm load.  You can connect for a 1-ohm load (all voice coils in parallel to the amp) and then as long as you are careful with the setup and don't jam volume control to max, the JBL amp will survive and produce (I believe) about 820 watts.  It certainly won't sound it's best though.  Or you could go for a total 4-ohm load (series-parallel) and the amp will be very happy at 300 watts total.

He means there will be uwanted noise and distortion in the system.  Noise and distortion wear on speakers and you could break them.  I wouldn't suggest a 1-ohm load, even if they don't break you'll probably be able to hear the distortion and you don't want that.  Try the 4ohm load first.  It will probably be plently loud unless you're looking for spl or to beat your friend or something.  What is the application again, ported, bandpass?  If either of those the power handling will be reduced for the subs anyway.

I definately would not try to run that thing at 1-ohm!  Conenct it for 4-ohms (series-parallel) and hope for the best.
