Gentlmen,

Would anyone know where I can get my hands on the wiring diagram for a '99 Nissan Maxima Bose Stereo System... my son and I took on the challenge to switch out his standard 1999 Nissan Maxima CD/AM/FM Stereo to it's equalivant Bose Stereo System... we have successuflly pulled the speakers and head unit... found the hardware from our local salvage yard... and noticed the speakers and head need power for the amps... and of coarse... compliments of http://www.carstereohelp.net/ we have the head wiring diagram... just don't understand the interface how the rear amp turn-on signal works?... your thoughts?... Dad!!

How far are you so far? I think you are going to find it very hard to run the wires and everything and then get everything to work. And then who knows how long it would work... Seriously, I would reconsider, and buy an aftermarket radio and speakers which will sound sooooo much better then any thing with the name bose on it. I would consider maybe an Alpine, Blaupunkt, or Eclipse head-unit and some good speakers from some one from like Alpine, Boston Acoustics, Polk Audio, Infinity, and Blaupunkt. If you are on a tight budget here is a system I have put togethor:

front speakers: Infinity 6002si

Keep the rear stock speakers for rear fill

CD player: Blaupunkt CD33

First of all!!!... thanks for replying... I have the HU out!... both doors panels are off... including the back seat and rear decking... I have the wiring harness from a salvaged 1997 Nissan Maxima... including the speakers and HU... the wiring harness is installed for the back and door speakers... all wiring pulled to the head console... my concerns are with the final wiring to the head... I have the following concerns:

1) can the power leads to the front and rear speakers be combined... note: in reference to the wiring hareness to the rear speakers... the power (red) leads where combined to one conductor back to the head... the ground (black)... as far as I could salvage the wiring harness... was seperated... don't know if this really matters?

2) does the front/rear speaker wiring need to be 2 conductor shielded?... all salaged Maxima's I looked at the salvage yard had shielded speaker wiring.... doesn't figure?... 12v dc... it's usually the case with industrial ac control loops in the same conduit runs!... is the signal affected at such low impediances?

3) where does the K wire "REAR AMP. ON/OFF SIGNAL" interface to the system?...

I have the wiring diagram to the HU... compliments of http://carstereohelp.net/wireharness_Nissan1.htm I would really appreciate your assistance... my son's visitation starts Sunday at 6:00pm with his mother... and we really wanted to complete this project before then... or... of coarse... it will be delayed for a week!... your timely response is appreciated... regards... thomas

I appreciate your oppinion about putting an aftermarket stereo in the car... we basically had a Nakamichi CD400 HU with Infinity 63.5i speakers in the front and back... and the system didn't sound as good to him as the Bose system.... so we took on the task to replace it!... father/son bonding moment?... if you know what I mean... so... already committed!!... thomas

That, sir, is the first time I have ever heard anybody say that they liked the sound of bose better than the fine head unit you are taking out. Would you be willing to swap that Nakamichi for some bose equipment? (They can be found in dumpsters everywhere!) Had there been a good amplifier in the mix, you wouldn't be swapping equipment now.

No!... been to every at least 6 salvage yards to get this one installed... I have already sold the Nakamichi HU on Ebay... went for $350.00... the the Infinity speakers are about to go in 5 hours... so... no need to look in anymore dumpsters... they can't give me any more than what I already have... what I was looking for on this forum was some support in getting the info I needed to complete the project my son and I started... the plan is to get the Maxima back to stock equipment!... got the info we need... or... can you direct me to the right source?... thomas

It may take a while for someone who knows those answers to see this thread and give you a response. Have you done a search for bose-likers forums? Just so ya know, this recent post is how we get out jollies around here...
