For a while now i realized that one of my speakers are distorting when my sub hits. After some testing i found that my front left speaker cuts out when my sub hits and then distorts when it come back it. When i hit the switch to turn the remoted lead for the sub's amp off the speaker hits fine. I asked my buddy who just started taking Electronics classes at a tech school and he said it sound like some kind of mechanical interferince. here's my setup:::

Two RCAs from HU (JVC KD-SX990) running to the 4ch amp (MTX Thunder4244). Then an RCA running from the 4ch to the 2ch bridged amp (RF 360.2)

The 4ch is powering a pair of Pioneer TS-A6960R (Rear 6x9s) and a pair of TS-A1670R (Front 6.5s that i believe are in // with my stock tweeters)

The bridged 2ch amp is powering an infinity kappa perfect 12.1

Thanks for anyone that can help me ... I'm kinda stumped on this one. But then again i'm thinking of replacing all of the speakers in my car except for the Infinity ... but that won't be untill at least spring break

i'm suspicious of a mechanical cause of a problem like that.... have you tried to cross-channel these speakers? ( switch left to right and right to left ) does the same speaker still have this problem or did it switch over to the front right now?

Just a long shot do you have your stock tweeters wired in series with your front sprekers? If so you would probably be yeilding a 2 ohm load, lower impedences tend to cause more distortion, and also makes it harder for crossovers to block frequencies do to increased power

Umm, wouldn't two 4 ohm speakers in series be 8 ohms, not 2?

And to simplify it a bit - // (parallel) is just the two speaker's +'s tied together to the + out of the amp (or hu) and the two speaker's - 's together to the amps - out.
