To obtain the maximum stated value, your alternator would also have to output the same voltage.

You are missing part of the puzzle. Battery's all have a maximum charging voltage for the Optima it is 13.3 to 15.0 max. The Optima does not have a maximum current input though as it relates to normal SLA batteries.

The maximum output voltage is dependant upon the maker. If you are currious, start the vehicle and measure the battery terminals with a DMM. That will tell you what it is currently putting out, without load. Regards EVIL Teken . . .

Are Capacitors common?  Do the amplifiers ever require more instantaneous amprege than what the alternator or batteries can provide?  Do you know how many amps and in how much time a battery can discharge at max.  When you hook these batteries in parallel it does increase the amount of current it can supply to the amps and thus eliminating the need for a capacitor right.Poly Dollies
