Hey guys i'm wondering if anyones done this before , using ribbon cable to connect the faceplate of a deck to the deck itself, allowing one to place the faceplate in a more confined space than where the deck would be placed. i'm kinda interested in placing the faceplate in a visor in a housing and running ribbon cable to the location of the deck itself , just wondering if anyones done this before and if they would know where to run the ribbon cable to on the deck, any help would be grateful thank you.

I've seen it done many times, and am planning on doing it myself.  In fact when I'm done, the head unit will probably be in 3 different locations (CD slot under steering column, face plate on custom center console, and the rest of the electronics hidden elsewhere).

Theres a few write up's on this very site.    You'll just have to use the magic search function.
