Choosing amp to power Infinity Kappa perf

As the Title says, I am trying to choose an amp to power a single Infintiy Kappa Perfect 12in Sub. I'm thinking something along the lines of 500W RMS should be good. Is that too much or not enough? Also, How are the Kappa Perfects in terms of SQ? SPL is not an issue, I just wnat SQ, nice tight bass. I'm thinking that the Kappa in a Sealed enclosure would do very well. Also, I'm thinking about a 12in Cerwin Vega: 12 Inch Cerwin Vega 15in Cerwin Vega What do you think about those? Cersin Vega has always made excellent SQ stuff. Are these subs good for SQ?

*Thump* *Thump* Is this thing on? Can anybody help me out? I'm looking at a few Memphis amps right now. Is Memphis a good brand? I know they have some really high power stuff, but I don't know if it's any good. Please help me.

Memphis is a really good brand. Throw a Memphis 500 monoblock at that sub and you should be just fine. ~The Rookie~

Is the Infiniti Kappa Perfect 12in an acceptable amtch for a system that contains basically Nak stuff? I mean, how well will that sub integrate with a Nak 700 Cd HU? Will it be excessivly boomy? I really don't want that. Also, with That Nak HU, I will be using a pair of Nak 6.5in Components, and a pair of Nak 6x9 in Coaxials. To power all four of these speakers, I am going to us a Nak amp that is rated for 100w RMS x 4. Is that a good combo? How well wil the Kappa Perfect integrate with this system? Should I get an Equalizer? I have used them before, and I do know how to properly tune them. I just have never used all this Nak stuff. Is Nak stuff good enough by itself? Meaning will it sound awesome without the use of an external Equalizer, only using what is built into the HU to tune the system. Thanks for your respone. Could you give me a link to Memphis Audio's Home Page, I can't find it. P.S. This entire system is going into a '92 Infiniti Q45 if that matters.

That Nak amp, i presume to be the PA 1004 or the 2004, depending on what ohm load your running, will be plenty of power. Remember nakamichi amps are very clean, and are underrated as well. The CD700 is fine, since it is manually adjustable for all frequency's and you can adjust your bass, treble, mids, fade, etc from it. You have no need to get an equalizer, as the 700 will provide you with everything you need from that department. I do recommend the Nak Components, the SP-S6500, the 6x9's are really up to you though. I got a pair of them hooked up in my room stereo and they sound great, but for car audio, i really see it lacking midbass. Then again i have a million woofers hooked up in my room so they are excellent for my highs. The 6x9's would be fine, just get some good woofers in the back. Out of the two woofers listed above, i'd stick Cerwin, just because i've liked their products for a long time and the lastest infinity line of woofers hasn't struck my fancy... JBL makes a good woofer too for the money, not exactly SQ, but it works. I have 2 Nakamichi SPW120's hooked up in my room, in a custom built downfire enclosure, and they power more bass than i could ever need. Great SQ and they get loud. Thank you for your input. Here are two amps that I have narrowed it down to: Orion 1200D MemphisD 1100 Which one of these amps is the better of the two? Are they a good value at that price? How are they on features? I like that they both have plenty of room to allow the system to "grow". So, I guess i'm asking for any input on these two amps. Thanks a bunch -Brien

I've tested the Nakamichi and it is very celan and under-rated.  A bit more expensive than the other probably.  I cannot comment on the Orion or Memphis as fas as "which is better" since they are both good amps but I have never tested them side by side.  I'd say any of your choices represent good quality gear.  If you plan to run this large an amp with a single Infinity sub, you will have to be careful that you set it up correctly and do not crank the volume or you run the risk of blowing the sub.Support the12volt.com
