Anybody who has a cavlier or any other 2000+ GM car and has tried to do any wiring work knows about the rediculous class 2 system they have. I am trying to install a new head unit (i know about the chimes and what not, and i do not plan on relocating the old one) my problem is that what wire should i tap into for power? some say to fuse tap the wiper blade fuse, and some say to search for a thick brown wire, but no one says what it does. Any body who knows what to do , PLEASE HElp!!

thanks

nate

sure, pick up a Metra GMRC-01 and just plug it in........ you get your acc power source, keep the chimes and maintain the class II bus... all for one low price..... why make grief for yourself?  if you are determined not to do it properly, grab acc at the ign switch wiring harness or at the fusebox.....

If you are not going to do it properly, grab the brown wire at the main ignition wire harness. This wire shows +12v in the on and acc position. If you want the on position only, then grab the pink wire at the same location. Both are a larger wire than the rest.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
