What is the best way to optimize imaging?

Imaging. *Good balance up front. *Both left and right midrange and highs as equidistant from your ears as possible. *Both left and right midrange and highs as on-axis as possible. *Strong midbass up front to allow a low crossover point to the subwoofers. *Tweeters as close to midrange drivers as possible. *Close attention paid to the crossovers. I've seen this correctly done in very few ways. The most popular and most often successful is this: 1) Kickpanel placement of both midrange and tweeter from a component set. 2) Dedicated midbass driver(s) in each door. 6 12's are going to make the sub-bass very hot. You're going to need a lot of midbass work to blend with that. Try some quality 7" or larger midbass drivers in your doors. New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

At your head. :-) Seriously though, use that as a starting point and adjust from there. Friends holding and adjusting angles while you listen can help. Once you find a good angle note it and glass the kick around that angle. Repeat for the other side. New Project: 2003 Pathfinder

another thing that is useful is time delay.it makes things a bit easier and lets placement be comprimised a little. the eclipse 8454 that i have has the best time delay feature i've seen on a h.u., or you could find an external peice to take car of that.
