97 ford explorer do i need bypass

i have a 97 ford explorer. i install a sony radio i see the volume moving but i dont get any sound. do i need a bypass. behind the console there is a radio control as well.need help.

did you hook up the amp turn on wire the explorer most likely has a factory amp that you have to turn it on if you used a wiring harness its the blue wire you should also get a amp bypass harness to bypass the factory amp cause you will be feeding it with your amplified speaker outputs the bestkits part # is BHA5513 cant find my metra book
