I was looking for some opinions on this. I have a set of diamond s600's that I was going to put in my 94 accord. I don't really feel like messing with the tweeters though and was contemplating using the cdt braxials instead. The problem is I've never heard the braxials and don't know if they'll be better/worse or whatever. I'll be pushing the speakers using a jl 300/2. Any ideas?

There really isn't a sonic difference between the braxials and a standard set of componets, save perhaps a less than ideal location for the tweeters.

I would imagine looking at the Diamond componets that you would find either braxial offering from CDT, either the HD or the ES series, obsolutely outstanding choices. Those speakers have an exceptional reputation.

Between the CDT ES/HD series and those Diamonds, you might be happiest with whatever provides the smoothest install. All of them would sound out-of-this-world.

Thats what I figured, and thats why I was curious about the braxials. They would be easiest to install and, everyone keeps talking about how mounting the tweet as close as possible to the mid is best. I just thought I'd ask because I've heard the diamonds, but not the CDT's. I know it goes against the old "listen before you buy" thing, but man would it make life easy. And if it would sound the same or better? nice.

To Fugit, go with the Braxials! CDT makes a great speaker, I use the Euro series in my Dodge van and they scream!!!

hehe... tweeter mounting location is almost entirely one of personal choice.. an audiophile purist would certainly take significant issue with that statement. cdt braxials or diamond? -- posted image.

..as you say, I too prefer it mounted as close to the mid as possible.. preferably pointed at the opposite side window..

Let us know if you end up going with CDT, I'm always interested in what ppl have to say about their top-tier offerings... only word-of-mouth with that company.. !

Tweeters are very directional, the higher up the tweeters are mounted on the door paael the clearer and better the stereo separation/imaging becomes. Also you ears are better equipped to discern the highs..

actaually fugit is right you do want it as close to the mid as possible, it creates imaging issues the further away from the mid the tweeter is. A common rule is no more than 5" away from the mid, that is why kickpanels sound best with the mid right next to the tweeter compared to the tweeter mounted in the a pillar, so actually Sedate Fugit probably heard this rule from an audiophile purist as you say and that is why he made that statement. cdt braxials or diamond? -- posted image.

And to throw in my two cents CDT speakers are very nice, I own the ef-61 cfi and these components sound so crisp and clear, I don't know about the braxials but if they are anything like the components you will not be dissapointed.

Well--actually that is a true point in most cases but lets face it----a car interior usually makes for some lousy listening time, mainly because there is a great deal of background noise, mechanical or otherwise that has to be thrown into the equation. At best for tweeters, there is a 1-2 db loss of highs just because of the door panel mounting placement. So we recommend trying the tweeters in several locations if possible before committing to a permanent mount.

That way you can see which mount location works best for your interior.

Not sure if anyone is familiar with the stock placement of the speakers in the 94 accord ex but it has a "component" set so to speak. It has door speakers and a spot for tweets in the dash. Strange thing is they face up to the windshield. I'd like to make a custom door panel and mount the mid and tweet in the spot where the door meets up with the dash but It's just my little beater/commuter car and the wife gets burnt when I spend too much time in the garage. Hence, the "should I install braxials" question. Just being lazy but would like it to still sound good.
