rainbow audio components

right now i am in the market for a component set.  i have been lookin into maybe getting a set of 6 1/2 inch infinity kappa components.   I just recently seen a set of rainbow audio soundline slc 265.03 components for a really good price, currently.  i was curious to know how u guys like the rainbow components and their slc series.  

i am making new door panels, was planning on sticking 1 set of 6 1/2 components per front door. goin for a set up like the car linked below, but probably with different tweeter location, but if i get the rainbows i doubt i will go with 2 component sets do to trying to get another set for a good price.

I have never dealt with the sound line comps, but I am sure they will sound good. I am using the sound line 6x9's for real fill and the tweeter is very smooth. I have also used the slc coax speakers in other installs with much satisfaction

My only word of advice is get the soft dome tweeter, I have had experience with both and found that the soft dome has more flexibility in sound. The hard dome was far too harsh.

I don't know what your budget is or what the pricing is on those slc's but if you can wait and save up more money look into a higher end component set (like the profi's). Settling will always leave you wanting more. Those slc's don't even have cast baskets, they are just stamped. Just my opinion about the big picture here.

That seup with two sets of comps is silly. If you really want something that sounds good check out a good three way system! (Rainbow makes some or Dyanaudio system 360) Having two tweeters like that will cause cancellation problems, not to mention that if you are going to do all that fancy FB work you would really want those tweeters closer to the mids.

i have heard before using 2 component systems will cause "staging" problems,  what exactly does that mean?  i have seen a several cars on the web with custom setups and they have a couple of 6 1/2 mids up front with a tweeter. 

Also i will be running the components  and a pair of infinity kappa 6by 9s off a orion amp.  i have a pair of jl audio 5 1/4 coaxials i like to move to the rear doors, (4 door vehichle) and run those off the head unit.

Staging problems yes, but I would call it cancelation issues, when you have two speakers in the same location, playing the same frequencies this can occur, especially tweeters that play the higher frequencies this will be very problematic.

Again, I feel that either you go with a good comp set up front, be it two way or three way but don't do two sets, keep it simple and you will be happier. Don't forget that even if you do have rear fill, (which I like and some don't) that you should invest as much as you can afford in the front stage since that is where you sit and that is where the music should come from, not the back.

Hold off on the 5.25's for now add those later if you must, but the level matching will off since the other speakers will be powered offf the amp and the deck's amp will clip before the external amp will.

the amp in the deck will clip at higher volumes where the external ones won't

So for example, you have the deck's level at 25 and max is 30, you have properly set the gains on the amp and it sounds fine at that level, but the speakers off the deck will probably distort at 25 and won't have as much volume as the others, so it really is a waste.

well i didnt end up buying the rainbow components.  they sold at $155  which i thought was a good price.  but i am looking for something that can hold a little more power.  I dont really want to get a different amp, i just bought the orion so i like to find somethin that can measure up near it.  also i have been lookin at  some 3 way components. and so far, still lookin.

i am goin to run 2 kappa 6by9s and whatever components i get off of it.  u made a good point about the clipping off the head unit, but i still would like to put the jl 5 1/4 speakers to use, not sure if i could some how squeeze them on to the amp also.  i doubt it, but im not hardcore with my car audio knowlege, more so with doing custom mods.   i think the jl speakers also max at 75watt, and rms is around 50 i think.  so i dont want to over power them, but i think maybe if i have my gains turned down, i might be ok.  let me know if there is any possible reason to squeeze the jl audios on there.

right now they are 4ohm along with my kappa 6by9s
