Im going to be putting a huge system in my 2001 Blazer Xtreme.  The plan is to put 1 MTX RFL with 2 12" MTX9500 woofers.  I am going to have 2 MTX1501D amps pushing the RFL along with one MTX801D amp pushing the 2 12's.  I will be putting in a crossover (thinking about using the Audiobahn AX303P 3 way crossover) through which I will be controlling the frequency to each amp for the subwoofers only.  I also have an Eclipse 4 channel amplifier for my highs and mids.  I currently have a 100A alternator and a 800CA battery (not sure of the type).  The complete installation is going to be custom fiberglass enclosure with possibly some neons and other little accents in the back.  I am probably going to try and find a new alternator of at least 160A.

My question is what would be the best way to go about this installation.  Shoud I install a 2nd battery in the back or should I use a capacitor?  Should I use a second battery in the back with a capacitor?  What do you think would be the best way to go?  If im going to use a 2nd battery, what would be the best way to install this?

If you need any more information about equipment or anything, let me know and I will get it to you.  Thanks.

have you purchased all your equiptment ?
Thats step 1
Battery is a great option maybe 2 if you plan to upgrade your Primary Battery make all of them match
If not use a Battery isolator, I know MAS makes one for your truck, but pac also make a nice peice.
its just an enormus relay but it eliminates the primary and only charges the back ups when coil is charged, ( depending on how YOU install this. if your really planning this for big draw pull the ac compressor and make a few new brackets mount up a 2nd alt. and messure for your new belt. Use that alt. to charge the reserve batteries and the factory alt for the primary. As for caps they are more for the subs, by keeping an ask load of power in reserve for a big hit! or many small ones. Your going to get a bunch of differant I deas and some guys been following me around counter posting my replys, Take all the info mix it up and figure out what you want to do. hit some site and read up on some old issues of car audio, from back when the real playas wouldnt mind throwin up a wall with 6 jls in a 2nd gen RX-7. Now adays they are all worried about the 100lbs=1/10 of a sec? Who's car is that fast anyway, and where you drivin ya know. any way best of luck and I want pics, I am a BAsS hEAd!

I have a majority of the equipment right now for the system.  Im just trying to sort out exactly what else i need and how i want to hook everything up.  Sounds like a dual battery isolator with a 2nd battery in the back would be the way to go.  Would it still be beneficial to have a capacitor then? or would having the batter in the back supply that quick power i need for a huge hit?
