hu problem?

alrite guys i sold my 4 12's to my freind and im letting him use my jbl 1200.1 amp. he has a crappy sony xplod head unit and it only has 2 outputs. well my freind actually hooked it up and it didnt sound to good. like u could hear the music coming out of the subs and stuff. I told him to get a nicer head unit with 3 outputs. am i leading my freind in the right direction and will this make the subs play alot better? thanks

I'm not sure changing the amount of outputs is the proper way to go about it. I assume that you mean the pre-outs on the HU itself, in which case, 1 pre-out is all that is required to run that amp. It may be that the amplifier settings need to be adjusted. Have a look and see where the amps crossover is set too and make sure it's out of the high ranges, as a test, just try setting the crossover to around 80Hz or so and see if that fixes your problem.

alrite he has the sony deck and a 4channel amp pushing his 4 door speakers. he hooked up the sub amp to his rear pre-outs on his HU. now like his speakers are acting wierd like not playing at times and the subs are playing like the music. when you adjust the rear speakers on the hu it messes with the subs. Is it mandatory to have a deck with seperate front and rear and a sub pre output if he wants to have all speakers and subs playing?

It's call a "low-pass crossover."  If the sub amp has one built-in, turn it on.  If not, you need one.Support the12volt.com

yeppers, sounds like either HP crossover is on or crossover bypass in on. Just turn on the LP crossover on the amp and he should be fine.
