Oldsmobile Intrigue GL Stereo -- posted image.I have replaced the factory stereo with a JVC stereo. But now I am unable to operate the volume on the steering wheel. Can anyone tell me how I can wire the JVC into the steering wheel so I can operate stereo controls? I appreciate any advice and help on this. Thank you, Shannon

I thought I would have to buy some sort of an adapter but do you know what type or what it would be called?

Your local sound shop should have what you need in stock.  PAC makes a universal steering wheel control adapter that works in most cases.  It takes the data signal from the steering wheel control wire and converts it into IR.  You mount a small led in view of the new deck so it can "see" the signal.

OK thank you very much but do you know what it is called? Because you see I live in a really small town and there is not a sound system store. So, I will have to find one online and order it. And I do not want to order the wrong thing. Do you know about how much they are? Thanks, ShannonOldsmobile Intrigue GL Stereo -- posted image.

PAC (and I believe Peripheral makes one too) Swi-x (steering wheel interface- the x is for universal).  The last I saw, they are around $70.  If you do a search on Crutchfield or SoundDomain I'm sure you can find it.

If you got the SWI-X it won't work with that stereo because it only works if you have an input for wired remotes... might want to check your stereo again, but I dont think it did. You would need the swi-v that hooks up to the infrared sensor. Someone help check that for me, it is a JVC kd-s52.

I  sent an email to tech support at PAC and they responded and they said that I would need to order the SWI-X. But I haven't ordered anything as of yet. All I have done is check around for prices. But if someone would check and see which one for sure I need and let me know I will appreciate it. THANKS

It'll be the swi-x, as long as it's compatible with your stereo.  Check here, I saw 2 known JVC units that won't work: http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogramming/swixprogramming.asp.  You'll need the JVC remote for your stereo to program the PAC piece, so get that if you don't have it.
