Hey guys,

I have a JL Audio 300/4 amp and it has been running in low impedance and thus becoming very hot...It still functions but becomes very hot. I know it is not the speakers causing the problem because I connected the amp to only power and ground and the low impedance light still came on. My question is does anyone know where to find a schematic for this amp, or if one is even available? I can fix it if i can find the schematic for it. I have a feeling that one of the components has gone bad. Thanks, any help is appreciated.

you only have 4 sets of speakers, all ran individually to their own channels? are the speakers DVC or SVC? because i am pretty sure that amp runs as low as 1.5ohms per channel, and there arent 1 ohm speakers (are there?)

4 sets of speakers, yup. single voice coil....bridged it will run at 2 ohms...but as a 4 chanell its 4 ohms........either way though without any load connected to the amp it was still running at low impedance........

...What? The speaker determines the load on the amp. Since your speakers are all SVC, I'm sure they're no lower than 2 ohms each - so you should be fine connecting each one to its own channel and running it like that.

Also, your amp is stable from 1.5 ohms and up in 4 channel mode and stable from 3 ohms and up in bridged, 2 channel mode.
