my buddy just got this stereo in his ride and it sounds like poop. i have been thru the manual several times and still cannot figure out how to adjust the low-mid-high frequency settings.  i know i can access that information by holding in the menu buttom for a couple sec and it comes up.. and i can adjust the low.  but i dont know how to switch it to mid or high to tune it properly. the stereo sounds like crap and he got aalpine type r  6x9 and 5 1'4"          any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some of the reviews on the crutchfield site mention going to alpine's i-personalize site and making custom crossover/eq settings there. Then burn them to cd and load it into the headunit.

After you acess the EQ you should be able to change frequencies with the "band" button. I would suggest going on Alpine's web site and download the manual.
There is no such thing as free installation!
