i am having problems with my planet audio zx4002 amp it hits hard when the volume is turn like to 15 but when i crank it up the bass keeps cutting out like its staggering for power. i just went and bought 4 gauge power wire to see if that would fix it but it didnt..............i am running two 4ohm 12's and  the subs can handle 1200watts max and im only running 400 to ea  in bridged mode and they are single voice coil......i looked at the wireing though out the car and nothin is groundin to the chassis but i still cant find the problem............the amp also has this 180degree phase controll and some kinda volt button and a sensativity controll.........it might be set wrong????  i tried messing with the setting's but the bass still keeps cutting out when i crank it up.......................any ideas ????

First of all, that amp can only be bridged into a 4-ohm load or higher.  If you have the 2 subs connected in parallel, you are placing too low an impedance load on the amp.  Connect one sub to each channel and re-set your gain properly.

Exactly, you are asking the amp to do something it was not designed to do. End result is that the amp is going into protection instead of blowing up on you. Rewire the subs, one to each channel.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

i had this problem too...

rewired the subs from bridged parrallel to single channels. is working fine now.

but... my problem now is that - when the balance is centered ... subs have no power - changing to left only or right only - then subs are loud and is all good. why is that ? where should i start looking ?

kicker amp - kx650.4

2x cadence subs z10w-2

any help appreciated. thnks

Go to one of the subs and switch the speaker leads (positive and negative)- you have one of them wired backwards and it's cancelling out the other one.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
