MTX Amps, good buy?

I'm coming into a bit of cash and want to purchase amps for my two RF T112D4 subs. I was looking at two of the MTX TA5601 amps. I was also possibly looking at the LJ 1000/1 as well (I don't think I could spring for the Eclipse DA7232...it's a bit too far out of my range.). I was also looking into the Alpine MRD-M605s as well.

Edit --- Also considering two of the Eclipse XA4000s. 

I guess I like the MTX and JLs because of the parametric adjustment capability.

Maybe.  But it wasn't due to the THD numbers.

First, even in very controlled home environments you'd have to have great (read:  extraordinary) ears to pick out 1.2% THD from 0.05% THD.

Second, you likely don't have great (read: extraordinary) ears.

Third, your speakers and the "room" that is your car cabin exhibit and cause non-linearities and distortions orders of magnitude greater than any you'll find on even crap electronics.  The assertion that you can attribute an extra 1% to a different amplifier is quite dubious. 

Fourth, once the motor starts running, THD numbers under, hell, 5%, likely fly out the window and are rendered null in 99/100 vehicles. 

Don't get me wrong, I like nice stuff.  And you're right, Eclipse generally makes nicer stuff than MTX.  However, I don't want to see any new members be misled into buying an amplifier for a THD number.  Which, in my opinion, is one of the most useless numbers in car audio electronics.

That's where I'm leaning towards. Next week I'll pull the trigger on the purchase.
