I have a Sirius unit that I will be installing in a 03' Focus and was wondering if anybody has every hard wired the power cable to the cars cigarette lighter?  I ask this becasue I would like to hide the wiring and make the unit look like apart of the car.  Those window suction cups look stupid, you all know what i'm talking about.

It's an Orange / YELLOW wire.

So all I would need to to is clip the cigarette light adapter and connect the hot wire to the wire specified above and ground the other?  Would I need to add an inline fuse?

Yup.

I would recommend a fuse as close as possible to the Sirius unit (not at the lighter plug - this wouldn't serve much).

The fuse should always go as close to the power source as possible. If you were to install it near the Sirius and a short in the wire were to occur, the fuse would serve no purpose....

I'm either dyslexic or an idiot - of course it should go to the lighter. Sirius Car Kit -- posted image.

Be careful! the new Sirius units dont work off 12v anymore...they're like XM now and use 5.2v...so instead of cutting off the plug like the old units ....take the plug apart and grab the + and - before the pcb..one is marked for ground...smack a fuse in there and ya done. Or get yourself a cheap cigarette lighter extention and cut it in half, and hardwire it w/o hacking the plug.

Looking at the wiring diagram the orange / YELLOW wire is located on the head light switch, something seems odd about that.  Your thoughts.
