I currently have a ClarionProAudio APA2104 hooked up to 4 speakers; a 6 1/2" and a 6x9" on each channel loading it at 2Ohms stereo. This amp claims 75wrms x 2 @ 2Ohms (12 volts, .08 THD). The amp in question is an Alpine MRV-F307. I would have to load it @ 4Ohms each of the channels. Tis' rated @ 30wrms x 4 @ 4Ohms (12 volts, .08 THD). Question is:

Is the 15 wrms per side from the Clarion better? I personally would rather have all Alpine above 80Hz (the Clarion is the only thing 'holding me back').

Also, the MRV-F307 has a small knob at the center of the circuit board on the inside, what is it?

Every comment is highly appreciated. jmelton86

Well, your speakers are presently getting 37.5W each, in the listed configuration. You will realize a net loss of 7.5W per speaker - negligible in the extreme. However, with the 4 channel amp, you will gain four channel capabilities - i.e. fading, as well as balance (if desired)
Take a picture, and post it... As far as "what is this"? Who knows, especially with such a fantastic description as: "small knob at the center of the circuit board"... more power or keep it all the same? -- posted image. (kidding!)
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Yeah, I need to take some pics but I generally use my work pc. That's why I always post at night, 3rd shift. -But that's no excuse! Maybe this weekend...

-The Alpine would be getting more input voltage, 4 channel in instead of 2. Would this give me significant signal quality?

BTW i'm getting the MRV-F307 for installing a HU for a friend... in an S10.

Thanx for input

No. Why are you thinking that? Same deck, right? Then the same signal strength. Nothing is going to change, and you'll still need to set your gains accordingly.

Same HU, I just figured the 4 ch. amp (Alpine) would have a cleaner signal then the 2 ch. (Clarion) cause it's getting 4 (5v max) inputs instead of 2. This isn't right? I just thought it made sense...more power or keep it all the same? -- posted image.
