I just got my new stereo installed at best buy and I get a hissing noise with everything I play (radio, CD, Ipod)
My car is an Acura RSX type-S 2005. It has a bose sub-woofer.
I took it back to Best buy to get it fix, but they didnt know how to fix it.
They told me the problem was the sub-woofer and that they would charge me $70 to remove the cables. of course I said no.
My guess is that the wire connections arent right.
can anyone please help me?
Does anyone know how to fix this?

This almost sounds like an amp gain issue.
I am not familiar with your audio system though... and sorry to hear that Best Buy couldn't fix it.
good luck

I dont know much about car stereos...
Whats an "amp gain"?
Does that mean that the head unit gives out more power than the factory speakers can handle?
thanks for your time.

ITS A PIONEER with an Ipod connection on the back.   does that make any difference to the problem?

Nice car.

You got a CD player installed?  Please list ALL the equipment best buy installed... things like model numbers help alot.  Is there a time when it doesn't  make line noise?  Like at low volume?

It could.  Pioneers make really cheesy head units and generally people complain about line noise when they use this particular brand.  Generally however, this complaint applies to people with an amplifier installed, and you imply you only had a head-unit installed.

What does "remove the cables" mean?  Disconnect the woofer?

Obviously, this should teach you to shop elsewhere.  Read the release you signed for Best Buy to work on your car.  Don't take the release as the final say either, depending on your state and the consumer protection laws there, you might be able to force Best Buy to fix it or remove it and return it to pre-hacked-to-death condition and refund your money.

I have a 2005 RSX. The Bose system in the "S" model needs a line output convertor. Best Buy sales people and installers are idiots when the install involves more then power and speaker wiring. Go back and tell them getting the hiss out is THEIR responsibilty and see if they even know what an LOC is. If they can't fix it, tell them to take the stereo out and give you a full refund. Then go to a reputable independent dealer. Oh, but remember Best Buys offers "free" installation, which usually is worth what you pay for it. NOTHING.

Wow, Bob...
Umm, he's right though... They are most likely not using an LOC, and running speaker levels right into the stocker amp. The speaker levels will be EXCEPTIONALLY noisy, (hissy) and that is where your noise is coming from, almost guaranteed.
Get a decent deck, something with better specs, and that'll start alleviating your noise issues, right there.

Working on the big install this weekend! Having to do a few changes from my DESIRED install, but I'll be able to make do, I think! Space constraints are more constraining than I had hoped... hissing noise with new stereo -- posted image. I just REALLY want that deep extension! Willing to trade desired install for it!

I am so glad that there is no BB in my city.....wait a minute....maybe there should be. You might also want to look for a snake that may be hiding in the vehicle. They like under the front seats for some reason......
