mtx 1501d not turning on

Ok I have posted before about this amp. MTX TE1501D. I have this amp and an Alpine 4 channel. Today I disconnected the 1501D, taking out the fuse under the hood first of course. I have done this multiple times with no problem, but this time, the 1501 didn't turn on. So I of course brought out the good ol' DMM. Everything registers at least 12.75 volts. When I put the DMM right onto the terminals of the 1501, it reads anywhere from 2.35 all the way up to 8.95. But when I connect the DMM right to the bare wire, it reads at least 12.75. The terminals on the 4 channel reads at least 12.75, as usual. I even tried replacing the fuse under the hood, no luck. So my question to the pro's : Why does the wire itself measure 12.75-14.4, but when connecting the amp to the wire then measuring the terminals, it only reads 2.35-8.95? Is the amp messed up?
