Is it possible to run a system off of a dvd player?

Define "system". If you are asking if you can just "plug in", then no, you have to have amps, power supplies, cables... All of the associated things in a car, must also be present in the house.
Otherwise, a home system is NO DIFFERENT WHATSOEVER than a car system, except you plug in to 120V, rather than 12V. It still uses sources, pre-amplification, crossovers, drivers, amplification... Everything is identical.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Is it a DVD player with a built in surround system with amplified outputs for subwoofers along with 5 other speakers?
