Ok, I've read alot here on how to wire DVC subs till I'm finally confused! I have two 12" 4 Ohm DVC subs that I want to wire down to 2 Ohm to get the most from my amp. Is this the best way to do it...
Sub wire diagram.
WIll this get the most from my amp since it down to 2 Ohm? Will it let my subs get handle the most power from the amp or just half? It's a 1 or 2 channel amp-whatever i want. Or would it be better a different way as in run both channels and wire them down to 2 ohm?

Yes,  diagram #2 shows the configuration that will put a 2 ohm load on the amp.  4 ohm impedance bridged across two channels = 2 ohm per channel.  That's a 2 ohm load and your amplifier will output at its fullest.  The output is identical to running 2 ohm loads onto each channel separately (as seen in Crutchfield's diagram).

Look at your amplifier manual, at the output ratings.  What is the output at 2 X 2 ohms (stereo)?  What is it at 1 X 4 ohm bridged (mono)?  Are they not the same power output?

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

What is the model # of your amp? (hopefully he wasn't referring to both pairs of output terminals on a mono amp when he said he's got a 1 OR 2 channel amp)

Let us know what the model # of your amp is and we can help you further...

Yeah ,they're the same 2x 2 ohm as 1x 4ohm. So I guess I'll stick to the 2 channel then? I just wasn't sure if 2 channels were better or just one channel...and how to wire them as well. Thanks a bunch!!

Oh...one more thing. When an amp states something like 300 x 2 does that mean 300 watts into each channel or 300 divided by two = 150 into each channel?

Didn't see your post till just now Jmelton86. Don't laugh..it'sa Ultra linear 2 channel that's bridgable to one channel (1600 watt max-yeah probaly not) BUT even cheep amps work.....how to wire a dvc sub? -- posted image. Crappy amp (FREE) but for free. The guy next door gave it to me,bought it for his son but he died in a car wreak. But I'm pretty sure a mono amp is one channel in? one channel out? correct?
And these are my subs Polk Audio sr124 But I didn't pay near that price for both!
I did have these MA Audio HK12x2 But someone stole them from my garage....how to wire a dvc sub? -- posted image.

Your link to the amp doesn't work. Here's one: http://www.ultralinear.com/index.cfm/Mobile_Audio_Amplifiers_Series_2/fuseaction/ViewProductDetails/ProductID/3,3700906

It claims 800Wrms x 2 @ 2ohms, but I couldn't find any info on fuse(s) size. How many fuses does it have? What ratings are they for?

But yeah, you'll want to wire each sub to 2ohms, and put one on each channel. BTW, 300 x 2 means 300 x 2 (600 x 1).

It has 4 25 amp fuses. I know that that means something but not real sure as in how powerfull it is. And yeah your link is to the right amp.Sorry about the link not working and I'm sure you had to search for it.I had to as well since I don't have the manual with me at the moment.

100amps worth of fusing, alright. Simple math (gotta love simple mathhow to wire a dvc sub? -- posted image.) tells us that 100 (fuses) x 14.4 (voltage) = 1440. Take away about 35% for efficiency and you get 1400 x .65 = 936 watts.

That amp will give each sub about 468watts RMS. They call for 700Wrms, but in a ported box, they'll get loud enough for most (me, anyways!).

Oh, and I bet they sound WAY better than those MA's you had before. Try not to let these ones get gotten!
