got a link to the amp??
I did a search and came up with nothing...seems like you bought a cheap flea market amp.
My guess is that it puts out 200 watts

1: Audio Tekniques is a cheezy, Korean, terribly flea-market grade amplifier. To find the RMS power, take the total value of the fuses (for example, two 20A fuses would be 40A) and multiply by 14.4. Take THAT number, and multiply by .5.
2 * 20 = 40A
40A * 14.4V = 576
576 * .5 = 288
So around 300 watts RMS, in that example. If stereo amp, that would equate to around 150WPC RMS
For the amp to REALLY make 2kW, (if Class D) the fuses would have to equal a total of around 175A. If Class A/B, look toward 230A or more.
2: Why do you think it's impossible? Describe a little better your installation, with all of your wiring, any relays... whatever you did or tried. I don't think it'd be impossible.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
