I need to find a ground when running for the second ignition relay in a 1999 Yukon for my remote starter.

The remote starter supplies a ground out when running circuit. Use this to trigger one side of the relay coil to hook up a 2nd ignition relay. Check your install manual. Some units label it as a 2nd ignition output. It will be a negative output used to power a relay when the remote starter is activated.

What is the make and model of your remote starter?
If it is a DEI unit the Ground While Running will be labeled as 'status output'. Most systems offer an additional low current output for that second ignition relay.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

it is a compustar and I have looked through the manual and can not find a second ingnition output. There is however a status output. Any ideas?

I have only done one Compustar unit and it had outputs for 2nd ignition, start and accessory. They aren't in the main power plug, but in another plug and are thin wires. They are only used to ground relays. The status ouptut I believe is for a LED. If it only goes to ground during the remote starter cylce and is capable of 250 ma, you could use it.

There is another plug that lists light, status, ingnition, accessory, & starter ouput all with 250mA. So I can use anyone of these?

from compustar, take ignition ouput MAX 250 mA, connect it to a relay like so.

85 - Constant 12volts

86 - ignition output from compustar brain (250mA)
87 - High current constant 12volt source eg @ ignition harness
30 - to second ignition wire on yukon.

good luck !

Status output IS ground while running. It's active 1 second before remote start, and 1/2 second after shut down.

Used for triggering a bypass module!

I tried using the Ingnition output but it would not activate the relay. So I tried the status output and it DID activate the relay. Is there any reason that the status output could not be used for both the sercuity bypass module and to activate the relay for the second ignition wire? also is it posiible that I blew a fuse internally in the compustar unit itself and that is why the ingnition output wouldn't work?
