I am trying to intall a keyless entry on a 2005 taurus. It was a hertz car and did not come with factory system. I checked to see if it had factory setup by cycleing the key on off six times. It did not respond with the locking of the doors. I got a system to work but not all the time. I read on this site that my gem goes to sleep after a few minutes and won't let the keyless work properly. I tried putting my car in program mode to turn this off but I can't make it work I tried door closed and door open. When I get to the part where the horn honks I don't get a honk. Anyone have some ideas how to make this work. I also read somewhere the car has factory keyless if it has sticker that reads A-1 on the driver door post between the hindges. Mine has the sticker but will not program for remotes. Any ideas Dan

you will have to pulse the BCM to wake it up. after 10 min or so, the BCM goes to a sleep mode to conserve battery life. as kelly mentioned, connecting a domelight should pulse the BCM to wake up, then u can unlock or lock since domelight comes on first before unlock occurs.
