I am installing a remote start system on my mom's car and was wondering what the best way to go about it was. I have seen where people have talked about using a GMDL BP module that makes bypassing the doorlock problem easier. If I do this, do I still end up having to run wires to each door individually? Also, is it worth getting this module for the trouble? Thanks in advance for your help.

The bypass module eliminates the need to go into the doors to interface with the door locks as well as bypassing the passlock system and interfacing with the factory alarm. That piece works very well and makes the installation on your truck very simple. I recommend using it.

Yes, right at the OBDII connector, pin 2, the purple wire. Have a look at the installation manual: here.

Excellent, thanks for the help. I will order the module and will probably have more questions once installing.
One more question before I go. By tying into pin 2, does that also take care of the passlock? Am I correct in thinking that this module doesn't have to be tied into the ignition switch at all?

It does take care of the passlock via that single connection.
You do not have to do anything with the passlock wiring at the ignition switch, but the GMDL-BP does need to see ignition, constant hot, ground, and GWR which can be connected to the RS system during the bench wiring.
