Hey I was just wondering about something. Did a search didn't find anything. Is it possible to incorporate some sort of RPM increase kill device? When the vehicle is remote started if it doesn't have the key over ride, the rpms increased to a certain level it kills it. Has it been done, can it be done? Would be for a viper 5900.

As long as you have the tach hooked up and program then the Viper should already do this.  I believe it is around 4K RPM it is supposed to shut the car down.

Yea the tach wire is hooked up. I'll have to look into that. I was thinking something like 2k would be better.

Better for what?  The idea is to prevent damage to the motor if the throttle somehow gets stuck while the car is remote started.

Just because in my vehicle you don't need to depress the brake pedal in order to change gears. So if someone was to try and drive it, anything slightly above idle would kill the engine. I'm not overly concerned about it, it was just something I was thinking about.

You could always get a programmable frequency switch and hook its (-) output to the hood pin.

If you made it really super-sensitive like you're thinking, the remote starter would probably shut down during cold starts, because usually the engine revs higher.
You could remote start the car, and sit inside and rev the engine until it shuts down, if you're curious what the threshold is. It'll be different for different kinds of cars.

Or they would hit the brakes in a very short time, unless you happen to live on an onramp!

For insurance reasons, if someone gets in your car you want the car to move, you don't want it to shut down right away IF someone is trying to steal it.  If the car doesn't move, it is considered a break in, if the car is moved it is considered car theft.
