Hey guys, we were installing an Autopage 727 alarm/rs (never used autopage before) in a 2008 push start Toyota Highlander.  All our connections were soldered but for some reason the remote start does not work.  We used an Idatalink TBSL KO.  I think the module was programmed because what we did was use the idatalink mode which is mode 1 instead of mode 2.  After we had it on mode 1 pressed and held button on the module till the module lit solid green.  I let go of the button and it remained on for 2 seconds.  I then grabbed the factory remote without the battery and held it next to the push start button and pressed the button.  The module light went to red for a few till the chip was next to the push button when the module light turned green.  When remote starting the module lights up green and gives a couple of pulses.  My problem is that it still does not turn on the car.  I did notice 1 thing we did not do.  And that was to put the TXTC wire back together and just using the gray/red wire off the idatalink module.  That was on the "multi series" install manual instead of the this module which has the same exact wiring.

Can anybody shed some light???

Their three tech support guys (I've met them all personally) are pretty awesome, so I'd give them a call and I'm sure they'd help you right away.
Or post on their forum, www.12voltdata.com.
A couple of more thoughts and questions:
1. That data piece has a tach output, right? Will your Autopage learn the tach output from the module? If it won't, then I'd say the module isn't successfully programmed.
2. When trying to remote start, to the car's brake lights turn on momentarily? If they don't, it could be that your relay (connected to their white and WHITE/ black wires) isn't connected right, or simply that the module isn't programmed.
3. When trying to remote start, do you even get the radio to come on? If you get the radio on, but not the engine, I'd say that the module is good, but your brake interface isn't right.
4. There are two brake wires on that Highlander that test correctly, and only one of them works. You could cut the Autopage's brake shutdown wire temporarily, and then try to remote start the car with your foot on the brake.
5. You said you used a "multi series" install manual? I'm starting to think that might be your problem right there.
Their modules are very similar, and often use the same wire colors and connectors, but they are not identical. I've already seen this creat lots of problems.
If I remember right, the Multi Series module is a pretty straightforward install. The KO piece, even though it costs more, is more complicated to install, with more resistors and diodes. At least this is what I remember from a Prius.

I will answer in order

1.  I think that that output tach is actually an input wire to the module.  I could be wrong but I was under that impression because how would that module create an output when there is no can high or low????

2. I did not check the signal from the car for the brake.(will check again on wednesday when it comes in).  The white wire is connected to the relay(which triggers the module) and the WHITE/ black is ground which are wired correctly.

3. I do not get the radio to turn on.

4. When remote starting if you disconnect the brake wire it will do nothing because the relay will seperate the connection but i will try to reconnect the wire and press the brake. ( i also did disconnect the inhibit brake wire)

5. I did not use a multi series manual but I just browsed it.

It also may be that it did not program because when i remote start the car without the actual key energized by the  small battery  of the remote the screen on top of the radio says key not seen.  the odd thing was that the module did go green but maybe it didnt program properly???? When remote starting  the module would blink green for a few.  Should it go solid for a while or blink????

Are you sure you want mode 1? If the units are hard wired together it would be the second, Press and release for two flashes and then hold for solid. I'm not familiar with Autopage, do they have a DBI data port to connect them together?

They have a data part and its suppose to be mode 1 if its in that mode which I used.  the autopage plugs in directly into the module via the RS323 port

UPDATE!!!!!

After I called Idatalink Tech Support the technician mentioned that the DATA PORT of the Autopage unit may be defective.  We then wired the ground, ground while running, and power with the door lock trigger seperate.  Module is now working.  Gotta love the fact that datalink failed on this one.  Thanks for the input though.
