In the 1701G Manual it states to not interupt the Can Bus Wire or disconnect the battery (because of throwing codes) How do i hook this wire up do you strip the insulation back and solder to it. Or Should i just disconnect the battery?  Its a 2007 Avalanche Thanks

yep, just strip it back and solder and tape well, you should be fine.

It does say in the manual to do your soldering as far away from the OBDII connector as possible.  I wonder if that's just so you don't heat the wire up too much and melt the pins on the plug holding the wire in or if there's a more sinister reason

Life moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around once in a while; you could miss it.

yes....strip the insulation and solder it just like you said.  Don't disconnect the battery, and do you have a 556u also!  I not 100 percent certain, but i remember doing one about a year and a half ago and i needed a 556u also.  What I'm not sure of is if I used a 1701g or a 1700g.  Pretty certain I used a 1701g.  It'll tell you in the manual where it lists the compatible vehicles.  And the customer will lose a key!

Oh. and i'm assuming you're doing a remote start......right?

Yes a Viper 5900. And That Compatiably CHart says some Avalanches may need it all i have is the 1701g and the 5900.  I hope i dont need the 556u.  There was 2 verisons of the 1701g i think. So maybe the new one you dont need it. Also i dont no why you would need it on the avalache but not on the tahoe or any other trucks.....

Build the resistor values out of other resistors. The value will change using two or more in series or parallel. Heck, i've used 6 at a time to get the value i need. You don't need to be on the money, 5% off will work fine. Shame you have the 1701g, there are much easier modules on the market to use. Idatalink mods don't need the resisitors at all.....

I was going to suggest picking up an Idatalink ADS-DL or ADS-ALCA   you don't need to use any relays or resistors... makes for a cleaner install, easier to trouble shoot if need be and saves you at least an hour of install time.....
