hi dudes and dudettes,

I am newbie here and asking for help in installing the door lock in my 1991 toyota camry V6.  My unit is a viper 160XV and its remote starter and other functions are already working except for the lock/unlock features.  this is what i know so far.

1) wires on the door lock harness - light blue and green

2) the lock wire on my car is light green

3) unlock wire on my car is dark green.

QUESTION:

1) how should i connect the four (4) given wires?

2) do i still need a relay to interconnect these wires?

3) what is techtips 1041?  from the previous posts, i cannot access the directtechs 1041.pdf site.

please help me.

thank you very much for your time.

According to the Audiovox site, the colors of the wires on the car are as follows.   You should not need a relay to connect to these wires.

You just need to connect the wire from the alarm to the wire of the car.  Remove a small section of the insulation, twist the alarm wire around the exposed piece of wire, solder it and insulate it.  Or cut it strip it, slide a piece of heat shrink tubing over the wires, Solder them and cover the joint with the heat shrink, shrink it.
