I have a 2006 Grand Caravan and I am installing a Ultrastart 1280XR-Pro remote starter and I am using a INT - SL bypass interface module. The problem is when I try to remote start the van, the code (from remote starter) comes up for the brake pedal shutdown. I didnt hook up the brake wire because the interface is supposed to cover that. It must be picking up the brake pedal signal from the interface, and connecting the wire shouldnt make much of a difference , because it is triggered with 12 volt input! Anyway around this or anyone else have this problem?

wire the brake input from the rs unit directly to the switch at brake pedal. if the system is data and doesnt have a 12v line, run a wire from the unit down the driver side panels and tap into the rear brake lights.

So if I hook the brake wire up, is that going to override the signal that the data link is picking up? I don't really think it matters to the rs if the wire is connected, just matters when you apply the brake, and the rs gets 12v from the brake switch to shut down, correct, or am I wrong? Thanks for the response!

One of the problems with data connections. The fix will be to hard wire the two units together and eliminate the data transfer....

what data unit you using?

see, the thing is i had isues of using the datalink output from the rs unit to the bypass unit. sometimes the 3wire data line gets fault signals. i tend to hardwire wires from rs to bypass individually. i know the dataport saves time but its faulty. so an example is unlock from rs will be wired to the databypasses unlock input. from there it will generate a data coe to unlock.

i beleive this is what Mike M2 is refering to.

I will try hard wiring them together, I'm not sure if the interface module is programming right either, the LED is supposed to blink rapidly at one point in the programming, and its not. I will contact the fortin and see what they say. After "programming" the door locks work great though. Thanks for all the input, I will post back and let you all know how it turns out!

Make sure that your using firmware 1.3.0.1 and also all 2 way data protocols are setup so that it uses data/CANBUS primarily through RS232. Otherwise if you use stardard wiring, then it will use hardwire connections as primary.

It is firmware 1.3.0.1, Jeff have you used this module before? I did try to hard wire it, and then the door locks didnt work right, and then I did get the van to "try" and rs, but it cranked for about 1-2 seconds, and then shut down due to brake pedal input. I did try the remote start module in my truck and it did start, but the door lock didnt work, the unlock worked fine, so Im starting to wonder if I have a messed up rs. That, and like I said earlier, I dont think I am getting the interface module programmed right either!

I haven't used the INT-SL yet. From Fortin I use the PATS-CHRYSLER04+ or if I'm lazy and son't want to build my own door lock circuit, I use the iDatalink ADS-DLSL-CH3 for the Dodge's. What I would do in your case is use the standard wiring, hook up the brake switch and then try to remote start the vheicle. If it doesn't start, then check to see if the red LED is flashing when remote starting. If it is, then it's your wraps around the ignition barrel that is not inducing the signal properly.

If the red LED is not flashing and not on during remote start and it still fails to start, then check to see that you reset the INT-SL properly and that the multiplexed starter wire is in fact getting ground with resistance to it.
