aps 996? and transmitters?

hi, recently i changed battery of spare transmitter APS-2K4MS and light on transmitter came solid green as long as battery was working >> i thought may be transmitter is not working any more .... so i bought APS-2k4 , i am not sure if it is compatible withh APS 996 ( i am not sure if my Audiovox system is aps- 996 ) .... Two way remote model is 5BCRCS ... any thoughts , if APS-2k4 is compatible with 5BCRCS and do i have APS-996 system looking at remotes

On the remote with the steady green light, press each switch on the remote and see if one does not click as the others do. The switches do fail occasionally due to weak batteries. Yes when the battery gets weak, for some reason your brain tells you to push the switch harder. If there is a button that you do not use on the remote, you can remove the switch from that location and replace the bad switch. If you are going to do this let me know before you try it. The swotches are sensitive to heat, I can give you some tips to make sure you do not melt the switch.

I've seen defective Audiovox transmitters do that a lot. Where the light just stays flashing until the battery eventually dies. Is it possible you got it wet? Take everything apart, including the rubber pad, leave everything in a warm dry place for a couple of days, and try again. As far as if the other remote is compatible.......just try programming it. It'll either work or it won't. To program the remotes, you need to know where your valet button is. The instructions with the alarm have a programming guide, or you can find it here on this site using the Search feature.

thx. for ur advice but light is green even without putting switch rubber pad on the circuit board ... i also tried using a brand new switch pad but no joy. it seems to be something in the circuit. any furthure tip.

thx. GOld.... transmitter was never wet but could be damp due to extreme cold in Canada .. so i have put circuit board and switch pad in the sun ... let's see in a couple of days.. i know how to programme remote but confusion is since my one 2 way remote is already programmed and working .. so question is Do i have to programme new remote only or within 10 second i have to programm both remotes.

Remove the rubber membrane and clean the contacts of the circuit board with rubbing alcohol. Also clean the back of the rubber membrane.

Audiovox systems hold up to four remotes. Every time you program a new remote, it pushes the older one(s) further back "in line" let's say. In short: --If you program that new remote, and get it right on the first try, you're all set. --If you have trouble programming the new remote, and you have to try it four times in a row, you'll end up bumping out the old one, and need to program it again.

Chris Luongo is absolutely right. I use Audiovox exclusively & I've seen the green light come on steady on remotes & it's usually not related to moisture damage. I've tried to find the problem, like a bad solder connection etc., but I think something has gone wrong in the logic chip. It's dead. Try programming the new one.Good Enough Isn't!
