I am by no means a pro at installing remote starters but I have been around cars for about 20 years and I have successfully installed about 7 or 8 starters without a problem until now. I am tring to install a DEI 561R in a 2006 ram 1500 and I cant get the starter to crank. I read all of the prior posts and hooked up the 2nd starter/acc relays as indicated on the DEI and CODE diagrams as well as that other confusing diagram floating around. Could I be missing something or should I just get a bypass.

I use the bypass in all of the newer Chryslers now. Makes life so much easier and makes for a substantially cleaner install as well.

If you want to troubleshoot your install, pull out your meter, read the resistance on that purple brown wire when the key is on and when cranking. Make sure your resistances being provided through your relays is as possible to the actual value as you can get it.

I would still go with a module however as it also reduces the number of possible failure points in the future. Check out the PKU-CH2X.

Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

Check the resistance in your resistors and make sure that the tolernace levels on the resistors are 2 - 5 % within the value stated for the truck.

Are you using 610 ohm resistors and 180 ohm resistors or 560 and 150 ohm resistors for the 2nd start and acc'y wires?

Are you finding a good ground to tie the resistors to?

Go to autotoys.com and purchase the Chrysler bypasskit .. $55.00. It'll be like 12.00 shipping, but shipping (UPS ground) is free on all orders over $100.00.

I recently did a Jeep Grand Cherokee and used the bypasskit product and it worked like a charm.

You can also measure the resistance in the MUX wire (PURPLE / brown) before you cut it .. and measure the factory resistance to help you become spot on with your own resistors.
