Are they simple on/off buttons, or do they "time out"?
The reason I ask is this: I want to get rid of my ignition cylinder, key and all. I plan to use the Defrost button for the first (ACC) position, the cruise control "set" button and this relay setup for the second (IGN) position, and a Honda S2000 starter button in the original cylinder location for the third (START) position.
Other info: Rear defroster was scraped off the window by previous owner. The wiper switch was broken, so I replaced it with one that has a rear wiper switch. Could I possibly use the rear wiper switch for the first position?

There are different types.  Most are momentary switches that turn on a controller.  If you are willing to remove the switch and do a little footwork with a meter, I can help you figure out what type you have.

just incase you didnt read the post, he doesnt want to get his defroster working, he wants to get rid of the ignition cylinder so he can have a push button start. I said the same thing, pull out the meter and ill show you how it works. After re reading the post, now i understand :p

to the thread starter - if you search the forum, wiring up a push button as a start is very simple, but to make differant buttons in the car to create a start sequence is not easy. also  i dont know how your going to diable the ignition switch without having the steering wheel locking up.

Tedmond - The column lock will be removed with the ignition cylinder.
IAAI - Four relay latching relay? I don't follow... Unless you are counting the number of relays in total that I need. ACC=1 Ign=2 Start=1

If the rear defrost button is a momentary switch (which I am betting it is) you will need a latching relay setup. Look Here

Sofakingslow, you need to contact Kevin P. on this one, he's the expert, personally I'd run a mile from this.

He isn't even trying to use anything wireless.  Why are you guys telling him to run.  This will be a simple project.  His defrost button may be a latching switch.  If that is the case it will be a piece of cake.  Obviously he is not scared of relays.  So even if it is a momentary switch,  the simple latching relay is all he would need for Ignition and possibly for accessory.  Other than the 4 relay latching relay possibilities, I really have no idea what he should run from.
