was wondering if anyone has done a 09 chevy aveo remote start?vehicle doesnt have transponder key (verified thru parts dept with vin)does this vehicle use the hybrid passlock setup like the colorado/canyon?i wired it like other chevys with ignition, accessory, power, ground and it doesnt crank, tried it with key in ignition no change,im thinking thatthe RED / blk wire and the brown wire on ignition harness are start, keysense , 2nd ignition like a colorado/canyon/ion, audiovox has mostly wrong info, and technaical gave 2 different answers from 2 different techs, imnot a d.e.i. dealer so i have no access to their techsoft, chris luongo if you read this im sure you figured this car out any help is appreciated

From other site, the IGN & ACC are simple but the starter wire is the PITA. This is what I have for you ( I have not done one of these yet so bare with me on this information ):

- you will need to use a relay and a 1300 ohm resistor on the starter wire

- The vehicle is using a new technology (something similar to GM2 or GM3)

If you want to install on the vehicle, you will have to bypass the passlock of the vehicle as any new gen passlock and use a key in a box for PK3 part (probably GM3 works but haven't tested yet).

Are you part of the12vinsider forum ?? There a a few installers there that successfully installed into that vehicle. The US models are different than the Canadian versions. We have transponder and also a starter wire.

One options was to hook starter wire directly to start motor.

no ive not used the insider forum, ive only answered posts here and/or posted my own, i tried private messaging chris luongo as based on his replies ive read on here he knows his doodie, but it says hes exceeded his maximum pms so my only other option is to email him direct thru his contact info which im going to try now but thanks as over here seems the transponder is only on selected models as when i had dealer look up keys for aveo it listed 10 different options thats why he looked it up by vin and it came up as only 1 basic 10 dollar key&audiovox tech i talked to 2 different techs and got 2 totally different answers

Jim, just PM'd you someone that can help you with this vehicle. Post yor findings as this vehicle has been a troublesome vehicle for most installers because of lack of information. If you can post wire colors and locations after the installation, that would be awesome.

Hi Jim,
I'm not sure if we've talked on here before, but I'm very flattered you thought of me!
I have never seen/worked on one of these cars before, but I did read a little bit online.
ADS had some posts that they'd have a solution for this car, but their site doesn't list it yet. Neither does Fortin.
An ex co-worker of mine tried one of these, but eventually gave up.
I did read a little bit at the 12 volt insider forum. That's an industry-only forum and their rules prohibit people from copying and pasting.......and besides, they don't have a list of wire colors over there or anything like that. One guy got it working, but didn't explain a lot.
Here's what I do know:
One ignition and one accessory at the ignition switch.
There's a possibility of another wire there that needs to see some type of signal through a resistor......you'd have to test.
One person did say he had to run his starter wire out to a yellow starter wire under the hood.
So, you'll surely need ignition, accessory, and starter under the hood........you could start there, and see if you need to mess with that resistor or not.

hey chris, dont think we have talked, but we have both commented on other posts and acknowledged each others input, but i have read many of your replies to posts and you seem like a damn thorough technician(not just installer) and i figured based on some of your other pain in the ass car responses if anyone had done one of these it wouldhave been you LOL
i did verify 1 orange ignition, 1 lt green accessory, 1 RED / white(low amp 12v constant)(but also has a heavy 12volt RED / blk at module under dash like the silverado has at fusebox)lt blue _pk lights in ignition harness, lt blue +brake shutdown at brake switch, and im leaning real hard towards the RED / blk and brown wire at ignition switch as being the hybrid passlock/keysense/starter/etc as a colorado/canyon/ion/old cobalt,2 different audiovox techs gave 2 different answers& the one wanted to argue with me about a transponder when i told him parts dept verified thru vin# that no transponder in this car he said"theyre wrong they all have them" i gave up and am gonna give another go at it when customer can spare me some time

www.12vinsider.com   and then look in the middle, there's a big green circle that says "How to join" and that'll tell you.
The guy who runs the site definitely restricts it to people who have some relation to the industry...........manufacturer, installer, sales, etcetera. You'll need to give a brief explanation of who you are and what you do. It's a good place, though.
