Exact same as any other late-model push-to-start Nissan. 2009-up Murano, 2007-up Infiniti G, Infiniti EX, Nissan Altima...........all the same thing, just with different wiring colors. Use the search feature here for the 2007 Altima; there is lots of information available. In the early days, the modules from ADS (idatalink.com) had an issue that would cause a BCM code to come on, the dealer would have trouble resetting it, and would then unnecessarily replace the BCM. There were also a LOT of simply terrible installations on these cars, with many things done incorrectly, with installers not paying close attention to the install guides. Since then: ADS (idatalink) has corrected the problem with their module. Good guys. Fortin (ifar.ca) makes the CAN-SL2 which also works very well. Trilogix (bypasskit.com) XK07 is worthless, doesn't work correctly, and they've made no effort to correct it.......don't use the XK07 or you'll regret it. In summary: Go to ifar.ca and idatalink.com, and read BOTH install guides for these cars. Either of the two products will work well. If you do careful, neat work, read the instructions completely, there's no good reason to be blowing up these cars. You'll see that the first car will take you maybe 200% as long as a regular car.......with practice, you'll be able to do it in maybe 120% of your normal time. If there's no one in your area who can do these cars correctly, you might be able to get a good $100 premium over, say, an Accord, Impala, or Camry. On the other hand, some shops are whoring themselves out on these cars, and if there are some of those in your area, you might have to end up doing it for regular price. But seriously, if your dealer has had trouble with these cars in the past, it's just a matter of explaining that you'll be doing it right, and that they won't be having issues. Maybe even explain (truthfully) that it's not the same as a regular car, and that you have to charge more.

Do make sure to use the search feature for the Altima, lots of information available. Also sign up at www.12voltdata.com and look at the various posts about the Altima there. In short: XK07: Manufacturer lies, pretends it works when it doesn't. They've made no effort to improve their product or admit fault. Don't use the XK07. Idatalink: You can read the lengthy posts on their forum; they're a very honest and good company. Their product was causing the car's tire pressure light to stay on, with a BCM code that the dealer couldn't reset. (Well, they actually could reset it if they'd disconnect the car's battery for a few minutes first.) They've since corrected this problem. Pros: Their module automates the customer's takeover sequence. They have excellent tech support. Just by handling their modules, the quality of manufacturing is plainly evident. Cons: have to program module before installation. Fortin CAN-SL2: Did not suffer the above problems. Pros: Comes pre-programmed. Cons: Doesn't have the same build quality as the Idatalink stuff. Doesn't automate takeover for the customer. One of the connectors falls out easily if the module isn't tied carefully into place. It's really up to you between those two.

I should have said it before, but www.12voltdata.com is the forum for the manufacturer ADS, maker of Idatalink modules. Their site is intended for their own customers (shops, installers, etc.) and isn't really geared toward the general public. Their own tech support guys (I've met three out of the four of them in person, good guys) are on that message board too. There's an 8-page post about the tire pressure light issue in the Altima. It appears to have been resolved, but if you're interested, it is there. They are of no relation to www.the12volt.com.

hey chris since running the tach thru the idata module, is it still necassary to program rpm rate or is it all handled automatically thru the fl-can? due to yours and some other great info about these cars i too just picked up a nissan dealer and will be doing thses with the idata link product but had a couple minor questions ive not seen addressed THANKS IN ADVANCE JIM
