I have the antenna mounted at the bottom of my windshield.
The range I'm getting isn't all that great. The car can be in my line of sight, and sometimes it will receive the signal, and sometimes it wont. The overall range in general is not all that great.
Also, anyone have any tips on reapplying the antenna to the windshield? What should I use to remove the antenna?

It would help if you list Year, Make, Model...Kind of unit you are using...? Hows the battery in your remote...? Line of sight is how far...?

When I saw line of sight, I mean as I'm walking away from my car right after arming. Sometimes it takes more than one try for it to arm. I can be as close as 10 ft away, and it won't receive the signal sometimes.

Did you replace the battery...Is there an LED on the remote...? Is it lighting up everytime you push a button? Double sided adhesive padding to re-apply to windshield... Where is the antenna currently...?

If the antenna is on the windshield, it shouldn't make that much difference whether it's positioned upper or lower. Check all above PLUS try another remote. It may well be in light of what's been going on to be a remote fault.

Yes, the battery on the remote is charged. I have the backlight on my remote turned off so I don't kill the battery as fast. The antenna is mounted at the bottom of the windshield on the driver's side. How much can a coiled up antenna wire hinder the range?

I know the manufacture advises against it...Try and re-route it through underdash. Is this a new problem w/ range...was unit recently installed...? Im guessing it is a 2-way...Do you have another remote/1 way...? As Howie suggested, try another remote if all else fails.

the antenna wire being looped does cause a slight decrease in range due to the inductance the loops will cause, but ten feet away is highly unlikely that the antenna not being fully extended is causing this the problem, i'm with howie on the remote being faulty.
