hi there, i have a valet 561r installed in an 98 accord ex for a few years now haven't had any problems until recently when i use the factory remote to unlock the car. the alarm is arming itself after 25 seconds if the door is closed.   i don't have that problem with the valet remote though but i never had this problem unlocking with the factory remote before. any help would be appreciated.

i had it installed at circuit city and id take it back there but as u know there're out of business, so im hoping its an easy fix that i can do myself, i've installed stereo systems by myself, so does anybody know what's going on? i use my factory remote to unlock the car because the valet remote has a 1 button arm/disarm function so i dont know if i am unlocking the car unless i look at the lights. its not that big of a deal except i might or someone that borrows my car might get locked out when they put the key in the ignition and run out to grab something. i've only got 1 valet remote but two factory remotes.

So the factory alarm is re-arming 25 seconds after you unlock it from  factory remote? Maybe i missed something...I perused the Install manual and appeared to be a Remote Start.  http://www.directed.com/guides/manuals/ig/valet/N561R_06-03.pdf  ...Or the unit is just re-locking itself...?

Could it have "slipped" into passive arm mode?

yes it is a factory alarm, but the "passive arming" happens only when i use the factory remote to unlock the car.(every time i press the unlock button). but  when i unlock with the dei remote i don't have the re-arming problem.  i have no idea how this happened, it wasn't doing it before.  i even tried disconnecting the battery to try to reset it.

Only guessing...But i think it would have to be the 561r possibly re-arming factory security...Grab a meter...And probe doorlocks/factory arm wires during the 25 second period. I dont remember if that car locks doors when you pulse factory arm wire...But lets see if we can narrow down whats going on..I will look at some stuff and post . I dont see any feature for passive locks in manual...Sooo maybe your right and it is a feature of the car(never heard of that)

It is very common for a factory system to relock the doors if you unlock them with the factory remote and then never actually open a door. It probably did this all along. Its a good thing. Why would it bother you?
The 561r does not connect to the door trigger wire in the car, so it has not idea if you opened a door or not. It will not lock itself after unlocking.

Begging the question but why are you using the factory remote anyway? Of course the factory processor will do this because it hasn't actually seen a door open. If your 561r has it's own remote(s), why even use the factory?

wow i guess you are right, i never knew my car had this feature, i've had this care for 5 years and i now just finally noticed that  if i don't open the door it re-arms itself.  i was worried i was going to lock myself out if i left the keys in the car to run out and get something, i didn't realize that opening the door would cancel the re-arming.  thanks for clearing this up for me guys.

oh and the reason i carry both the factory and dei remote is because the dei has the 1 button arm/disarm so i never really know whether im locking of unlocking the car without looking at the lights flashing when i push the button.  but the factory has separate lock and unlock buttons. this is important if i want to remote start my car and i can't see through walls because the alarm will go off if i remote start without unlocking the car first

Lt.GREEN/ Black wire on 9 pin harness is factory disarm(desription below). It would connect to Blue - in drivers door. Should help the whole seeing through the wall during remote start.

This wire sends a negative pulse every time the remote start is activated or the doors are unlocked. This can be

used to pulse the disarm wire of the vehicle's factory anti-theft device. Use a relay to send a (-) or (+) pulse to

the disarm wire as shown in the following diagrams.
