All my wiring diagrams say the door locks are neg. I have 2 different wiring diagrams saying 2 different wire colors. One of the digrams say gray for lock at the SECU, but the wire is sitting at ground and is getting voltage when locked, but they will not lock with 12vots either. I have pulled the door panel also to see if they were negh at the lock module in the door panel.   Anyone have done a 2001 Maaxima recently?

That is what my also has, but the gray is sitting at a ground and is seeing voltage when actuated. But when you give the wire 12volt is sparks. I did not want to fry the module so I quit and trying more research.

I am totly lost with these locks. In hte module there is a gray (pin3) which is the lock, but it activating with 9volts and resting at ground. Now when I put voltage to it they spark like hell.

Bulldog shows this info for your car.

POWER LOCK       GRAY (TYPE B)            IN PIN 23, @ SECU, See NOTE *2

POWER UNLOCK     BROWN / YELLOW (TYPE B)    IN PIN 35, @ SECU, See NOTE *2

NOTE *2 THE SECU (Smart Entry Control Unit) IS LOCATED TO THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN

It's best ( safest ) to use a Digital Multi Meter to test these wires.  You are looking for a (-) pulse.  Attach the Red lead to +12v constant source and the Black lead to the suspect wire.  The DMM should show +12v pulse with a lock ( or unlock ) pulse.  The unit you are installing should be set to output a (-) pulse, basically a ground.

Soldering is fun!

I have test all wires in the SECU (all three plugs). The only ones that work are pin 1 GREEN/ YELLOW drivers door only, pin 2 WHITE/ black all doors and pin 3 gray lock. All are sitting at ground normally and are reading max of 9volts on the multimeter when actuated.

I have not connected the unit to the locks. I have tried to test the wires with a wire connected to the lock/unlock and touched it to a fused 12volts.

OK I did it your way with the multimeter. The red connected to 12volts and the black to lock/unlock. The multi shows 12volts when sitting and looses the voltage when actuated.

That would indicate you have the wrong wire.  The lock or unlock wire should go to ground when activated thus completing the DMM circuit and showing +12 volts.  With Bulldog, Audiovox and info from this site all concurring, Lock is Gray and UnLock is BROWN / Yellow, those are the colors you want to find and test.  As a final test, after you have located the correct wires with the DMM, attach a wire to chasis ground and briefly ( ~0.8 sec ) touch the other end to the lock or unlock wire.
