Installed a Ready Remote 24921 in to 2001 Ford Taurus SES. Works fine with key in ignition.

Installed bypass PKFM wire to wire with 10-pin harness but cannot get it to program.  It is connected as follows:

Green pkfm to white PATS (TX)   /   Pink pkfm to Blue PATS (RX)

Orange PKFM connected to ignition, Red to 12 V constant and Black to ground.  Could not figure out where the brown wire from PKFM connects to the RS, so have been grounding it when hitting the remote start.

When programming according to instructions, I put in first key, turn to on position until theft light goes out, repeat  for second key (within five seconds) and hit remote start button.  On the third step, the engine starts, but the LED does not change from its slow flash.

The key starts the car and the remote start works with a key in the ignition.  I have reset the module multiple times (holding the program button while reconnecting the harness to get a solid LED).

Any suggestions? Thanks

Dano

The brown goes to the blue/white H3/5 on your 24921. DEI labels it's ground while running as 'status output'.
How did you verify which wire was which when hooking up to the PATS wiring? Make sure you are not on the ground or ignition and if it still does not program, try reversing the TX and RX wires and reprogram.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

Brown is probably ground when running (status).

Thanks for the reply.  I looked at the PATS connectors reference chart from Xpresskit website.  The only two connections to the PATS are the RX and TX and I have reset the module, reversed the wires and got the exact same result.

According to iDatalink the PATS connector is about 8 inches down the steering column from the ignition switch.  The TX wire is BROWN / Orange and the RX wire is RED / Black.  These connections should be soldered.

To program the bypass module you will need two working, non-clone keys.  If one of the keys is a clone of the other, it won't allow you to enter into program mode and add the bypass.  Also there is a limit to the number of transponder keys that can be programmed to the car.

Soldering is fun!

That may be the problem.  According to the Xpresskit installation information it made it look like the PATS connector plugged in right near the ignition switch and that is where I tapped in.  There is a white connector about 8 inches down the steering column.  Should I tap in prior to the connector? I will check the wires and retry as suggested tomorrow.  Thank you. I will post the results.

I do have to original keys, so that should not be the problem.

Thanks for the help kreg357.  You were spot on with your recommendations and I got it working perfectly. I wish the manual had been as accurate and specific as your info. Thanks again. Dano
