Hi everyone,

I just bought an '07 Jeep Wrangler(2door) and I'm looking at installing a Viper Responder One RS unit. Does anybody have an installation manual?

I can't image there's all that much to it since it's an RS only unit. To make life easy, I plan on using the CHALL vehicle interface D2D with the RS unit. I also plan on purchasing the CHTH2 ignition harness. I'm thinking, the only connections to the vehicle I'll probably have to make are the parking lights, 12v constant to the RS unit, ground to the RS unit, and the hood pin. Is this correct? It almost seems way to easy!

Thanks in advance. This has always been a great forum!

Very easy vehicle but you will need a couple of 8 amp diodes or relays for the parking lights.
Soldering is fun!

How are the parking lights wired up?

Is the parking light output from the RS unit connected to the parking lights with a diode isolating each side(left and right) to prevent feedback to the RS unit?

PARKING LIGHTS ( + )  WHITE/ ORANGE(+) (Left) and WHITE/ PURPLE(+) (Right)  in PASSENGER KICK PANEL or TIPM (BROWN PLUG) PINS 8 and 36, NOTE #3

NOTE #3: THE TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE) IS LOCATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, ON THE PASSENGER FENDER.

The diodes or relays isolate the vehicles right and left parking light circuits from each other, not to prevent feedback to the Viper.   After the remote starter wires are connected, if the right turn signal is turned on, both sides ( right and left ) would blink without the isolation.

Gotcha. That diagram demonstrated the circuit perfectly. It's simple enough.

I'm kind of suprised the parking light circuit isn't activated through the use of a resistor like it was in my '03 Liberty. My Liberty used multiplexed head lights/parking lights. I know the wiring on the '07+ Wranglers are setup quite a bit differently though.

As far as the installation manual for the Responder One...I was able to find one online. Everything looks pretty straight forward. It seems like the CHALL takes care of just about everything. I just have one question regarding the CHALL instruction sheet. On page 5, "the installation instructions for D2D setup with CHTH2 T-harness", it shows some wiring for instructions off to the left for 2004-2007 Chrysler vehicles(except Durango). Do I need to worry about that since both the RS and CHALL support two way D2D? It kind of confused as to whether I need to make those connections or not. I don't think I do.

Thanks for all your help. I REALLY appreciate it. :D

Agreed, the DEI diagram and instructions are confusing.  That is one of the reasons I prefer iDatalink.  With

the 2007 Wrangler I did recently, I used an ADS AL CA bypass module.  It was wired in the W2W mode and did
connect to the Jeeps' PURPLE / Brown MUX wire.  Absolutely no issues encountered.

That diagram on the left side of Page 6 has this note.  "Warning  Connections at this connector are only required

if a Starter(+) wire is present on the connector."  I don't remember if that connector has a (+) Starter wire.
The iDatalink install used the PURPLE / Brown MUX wire at the other ignition connector.  Neither Bulldog nor Audiovox
list an ignition switch Starter wire.

Hopefully a DEI CHALL user can add some info here.....

I had to use those connections on my 06 Ram.

You really just need to look at the ignition connector and see if there is a wire in that spot.

If there is, probe it for 12V when you start the vehicle.

I would be suprised if you did not have to hook up the MUX through a relay.

One of the easiest installs now with the new stuff available, I always use the Positive parking light output at the underhood fuseblock, run along side my main battery connection. WHITE/ Green in a green connector on the bottom of the fuseblock. Photo shows top row of the connector if you tilt the box towards the battery.
To master and control electricity is perfection. *evil laugh*

Alright, I'll have to look and see if the starter wire is present in the connector to know whether I have to wire it up using an relay as instructed by the CHALL directions.

Am I right in assuming all the wires depicted with dash marks won't be necessary since the Responder One unit uses two way D2D communications? It looks like those wires are only required if you have a unit that uses one way D2D.

I checked out the installation instructions for the ADS AL CA. It definitely looks less confusing than the CHALL unit. Even the programming seems a tad easier. It's also interesting they show the same install for 07-10 Wranglers, whereas the CHALL does not. The '07 is different than '08+.

Does the brake pedal status output work on the Wrangler you just installed the ADS AL CA on? I know you said you had zero issues, but according to their website it's not supported by the ADS AL CA.

Now you have me leaning towards the ADS AL CA. lol
