I have an 04 grand am that i'm attempting to put a viper 5301 remote start in with an xpresskit dball 2.0
The 5301 I have has and 18 pin wiring harness the install manual that I can find are for units that have separate harnesses.
My issue is I have 2 pink ign wires and 2 orange wires on the ignition harness.
Wondering if anyone has a pictorial of a grand am install. What I have wired so far is
Remote Start, (H3) 8-pin connector
H3/1 PINK (+) IGNITION 1 INPUT/OUTPUT to pink ign (there is 2 pink wires)
H3/2 RED / WHITE +12V FUSED (30A) IGNITION 2/FLEX RELAY INPUT (not sure where I should hook this)
H3/3 ORANGE (+) ACCESSORY OUTPUT to orange (there is 2 orange wires)
H3/4 VIOLET (+) STARTER OUTPUT to yellow
H3/5 RED +12V FUSED (30A) IGNITION 1 INPUT to 12 V constant red
H3/6 PINK/WHITE IGNITION 2/FLEX RELAY OUTPUT to green ign 2
H3/7 PINK/BLACK FLEX RELAY INPUT 87a (IF REQUIRED) OF FLEX RELAY
H3/8 RED / BLACK +12V FUSED (30A) ACCESSORY/STARTER INPUT to 12V constant Red
Also i'm told I need to install a relay but not sure what the relay is for and how it should be hook up I have a 775 relay with red black brown orange and yellow wires.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I know the xpress kit control many functions but what other wires do I need to hook up form the RS module. And the bypass unit?

From some old notes on a 2003 Grand Am ( 2003 thru 2006 are the same ), I believe if you look at the main

ignition switch connector, you will see that the two Pink's go to the same pin.  The two Orange's are also
common at one connector pin.  Depending on the model, you might find a Brown wire in the ignition harness
that tests as an Accessory.  The extra relay could be used for this wire if you need to power it.

The hardest part of that install is pulling the bezel & radio and getting at the ignition wires to make your connections...   viper 5301 with 18 pin con 04 grand am -- posted image.

While I have pulled my fair share of grand am radios, I have also accessed the ignition wires through the gauge cluster cavity. Just another angle to look at things. viper 5301 with 18 pin con 04 grand am -- posted image.

"The hardest part of that install is pulling the bezel & radio and getting at the ignition wires to make your connections" .... No doubt about that, quite the small hole to work out of with big hands!
Bare with me I have only done one other install and it was a basic system on a vehicle that had no power accessories
Thank you for the quick reply.
So all the fused 12v got to the constant red that seems redundant!
I assumed that the pinks and oranges were the same. But I wasn't able to get to the ignition connector.
I'm not sure what I would need the relay for unless it has something to do with door locks? I believe this model uses a one wire lock system? I thought the xpresskit took care of that though?
Other then power and grounds and the parking lights, what wires will I actually need to hook up, and where should I hook them up?

The radio came out fine, with the 4"x4" area you have to get to the wires that's is the hard part!

Actually, you should find two Red wires in the ignition harness that test as +12V constant.  Just split

the R/S's load between them ( 4 or 5 wires ).

The door locks should be handled by the Viper to the DB-ALL2 via the D2D harness and from the DB-ALL2

to the car via the J1850 OBD2 connection.  But the DB-ALL2 install guide has this note :
In some vehicles, DBALL-GM2 may not control the doorlocks via data. Once programmed, test the door lock inputs to
determine whether DBALL-GM2 will activate these functions via data. If there is no activation, the door lock system will
need to be controlled in analog via the remote starter.

If you are using the DB-ALL2 flashed with the 402.GM2 v1.06 firmware & connected to the 5301 via D2D, there

will be many unused wires.

Main Harness (H1), 12 pin connector

H1/1 RED / WHITE (-) 200mA AUX/TRUNK RELEASE OUTPUT handled by DB-ALL2 via D2D
H1/2 RED (+)12VDC CONSTANT INPUT             Red @ ignition switch harness

H1/9 BLACK/ WHITE (-) 200mA DOME LIGHT SUPERVISION                not used
H1/10 WHITE/ BLUE (-) REMOTE START/ TURBO TIMER           not used
H1/11 WHITE PARKING LIGHT OUTPUT       ***set for (+)          BROWN (+)  @ BCM, LIGHT GRAY Plug, Pin B8,
H1/12 ORANGE (-) 500mA GROUND WHEN LOCKED OUTPUT          not used

H2/8 N/A
H2/9 VIOLET/WHITE TACHOMETER INPUT      handled by DB-ALL2 via D2D
H2/10 DARK BLUE (-) 200mA STATUS OUTPUT           not used -  handled by DB-ALL2 via D2D
H2/11 PINK/WHITE (-) 200mA FLEX RELAY CONTROL OUTPUT       not used
H2/12 ORANGE (-) 200mA ACCESSORY OUTPUT       to external relay, Pin 85  - see wiring below
H2/13 PURPLE (-) 200mA STARTER OUTPUT not used
H2/14 PINK (-) 200mA IGNITION 1 OUTPUT      not used

H2/16 BLUE/WHITE (-) 200mA 2ND STATUS /REAR DEFOG not used
H2/17 BROWN (+) BRAKE SHUTDOWN INPUT   WHITE (+)  @ SWITCH ABOVE BRAKE PEDAL
H2/18 BLACK/ WHITE (-) NEUTRAL SAFETY INPUT      to chassis ground  ( if auto trans )

Extra 30/40 Amp SPDT relay with 20 Amp fuse for Brown ACC2 wire :

Relay Pin 85 to H2/12 ORANGE (-) 200mA ACCESSORY OUTPUT
Relay Pin 86 and 87 to +12V constant through 20 Amp fuse ( one of the Red wires, again )
Relay Pin 30 to Brown @ ignition switch harness
Relay Pin 87a not used
The Brown ACC2 wire may not be necessary for a simple R/S install if the Heat and A/C function OK without it.

Okay the remote starter is working and starting vehicle as it should.
But the door locks are not working, the horn and lights pulse when you hit lock and unlock, but the locks do not function. Horn honks when panic is tripped, any ideas?
should I wire from dball to remote start unit for luck and unlock inputs and out puts
Thanks

Well, if the Tach Learn went OK and the Viper can pop the trunk open, then you have one of the vehicles that the note

( included above ) applies to.  The only work around is to hardwire this feature directly from the Viper to the vehicle as
shown in this diagram : http://diagrams.marktoonen.nl/DOWNLOADS/14052_GRAND-AM_GRAND%20AM%201%20WIRE%20JBS%20UNITS.pdf

If you don't already have the relays and resistor, you could purchase a Directed 451M Door Lock module that is the same

thing, in a neat package.  The resistor is included with the module.  Street price is > $9.  The 451M install guide is in the
Downloads section.

At the same time I seen your post I was looking at the diagram for the 451M which I have one.   I'll have to put that in tomorrow.
I put a 1500 Ohm resistor on the unlock output, both wires just go to
WHITE (1-Wire System) See NOTE #2 @ BCM, LIGHT GRAY Plug, Pin A2, See NOTE #1
I don't need to cut the wire correct?
Kreg,
Thanks for all your help I really appreciate it!
