Hopefully you can help. I installed a viper 5101 today on my b5 passat pre immobilizer, i believe i installed it correctly but i cannot get it to start. it has a quick pulse to starter wire but it doesn't seem like its giving the voltage long enough to start. So far i have checked the neutral, hood, 12v constant, ignition, tach and just about everything else i could find on the web. i also have a bit writer to check settings, changed and turned off tach, tried to increase crank time, and zap the unit to start fresh.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
Also tried with the key in the ignition.
Car 5101 Harness
Chassis ground H1/5 Ground rail under driver dash
Constant 12V+      H3/2, 3/5, 3/8 12v rail under driver dash
Starter      RED / Black H3/4 Violet - Ignition Switch Harness
Ignition      Black H3/1 Pink - Ignition Switch Harness
Accessory      BLACK / YELLOW H3/3 Orange - Ignition Switch Harness
Tach      GREEN/ Blue 2 Violet/White- Behind Instrument Cluster
Brake Switch     BLACK/ Red 3 Brown - Brake Switch
Hood Grounded Set to (NC) normally closed in bit writer
Factory Disarm     Disarms w/Unlock
Parking lights GREEN/ red H1/11 White - Behind light switch
Door Trigger     BROWN / White (-) H1/8 Green - Drivers side kick panel blue connector
Door Lock      RED / Green (-) 3 Green - Drivers side kick panel blue connector
Door Unlock     RED / Blue (-) 1 Blue - Drivers side kick panel blue connector
Didn't keep my spacing, but hopefully you can still read it.
Also don't get any flashes indicating a problem.
Just tries to start for a milli second over and over.

Are you 100% sure that vehicle does not have immobilizer? Have you tried placing the key in the ignition without turning it and r/s?

did you try disconnecting the viper hoodpin wire from the factory wire? I have seen instances where the factory hoodpin spikes just enough to kill remote start. Is the viper flashing the parking lights when it shuts down/doesn't start?

Yes I am not connected to the factory hood pin at the moment because it broke off at some point and is taped closed right now. I have the viper hood pin wire connected to ground with the neutral safety wire. And the unit is set to normally closed option. No I am not getting any flashes. Just the alarm just keeps trying to start for a milli second over and over again.

Why would you have the Viper hood pin wire connected to ground? Plz disconnect this wire and try to remote start the car.

After the split second starting, does the dash stay alive for 5-10 seconds?
No question is stupid or not worth asking. You were once a noob, right? :)

If I disconnect the hood pin I get six flashes indicating a hood shut down. I can program the hood as normal open or normal closed. Right now it's closed. Tried both ways though. Thanks for the input

I don't know if it's 5 to 10 seconds. But it just restarts the start sequence. I can check though in the morning. Thanks
