Hi,
Lurker/new forum poster here. I've searched for this issue but haven't seen anything on it. Any help/suggestions are appreciated! The basic problem is that the Avital 2101L progressive unlock toggles between the two states, rather than reverting to the driver door after fifteen seconds as it states in the manual.
I've got an Avital 2101L installed in my truck (2012 Nissan Frontier with aftermarket actuators) and everything is working well with one major exception. I've got a progressive unlock set-up with wiring based on a previous forum conversation ( progressive locks, 2001 Ford Ranger, Avital 2101).
The problem I have is this. If I unlock the doors with the remote, a single push unlocks just my door, second push opens the other doors as expected. However, if I just unlock the driver door with the remote then wait any amount of time, the next click of the unlock on the remote opens the rest of the doors instead of the driver again! In other words, it seems that there is no time out for the progressive unlock, but the manual says 15 seconds. Is my unit bad? Is this somehow a wiring issue? I'll provide more info on the wiring set up if needed.

I haven't worked with a 2101 for awhile, and don't recall the exact details. But I'm pretty sure your system behavior is normal. It doesn't "time out".
There is another way to set it up:
Program the remote configuration for the LOCK button to be "Arm/Disarm/Panic". Program the UNLOCK button to be AUX, and change the trigger for passenger door unlock to the wht/blu wire. Now the top-left button is the driver door unlock, and lock all doors. And the top right button is unlock passenger door. Now you can unlock either door independently with its own button.

Thanks for getting back to me. That's a great idea! I'm thinking I'll just wire the passenger unlock to one of the other buttons on the remote just because I'm in the habit of pushing the lock button several times as I walk away. What do you think?

Ended up moving the passenger unlock to channel 2, programmed to aux button. Driver is on disarm only and unlock button. Only remaining issue is to get rid of the secondary output from the disarm action. I didn't see a way to turn that off in the programming, how do people normally deal with that?

I'm not sure what you mean by "secondary output". If you mean the second push for progressive un-lock, you're right that can't be turned off in a 2101 or 211. My system is similar, but is also an alarm.
I put lock+arm/unlock+disarm on the same button. I put passenger unlock on its own button. I use the third button for Remote Start activate output. I can unlock the passenger door with its own button, but the system will still be armed, and the alarm will sound if the passenger door is opened without ALSO disarming by unlocking the driver door too. I deal with knowing what the system status is by watching the LED. I can see it from both sides of the car. If it's flashing, I know to disarm it before opening the passenger door. Or the driver door for that matter.
It can be confusing, after 3 years now I just look at the LED and act appropriately. I hardly set it off inadvertently any longer.
As far as locking the car, I either watch the LED, or the tail light flash as I walk away. I push "arm" until I see one flash, and stop pushing.

Yup that's what I meant. Sorry for the confusion wording. Since I can't turn it off maybe I'll just wire the output to a relay so both pushes do the same thing. Might be more trouble than it's worth tho... Maybe next time I'm in the for some other reason I'll do that too

That should have been "confusing wording."
